Hairston Racing Finishes 2009 Strong

News Release….January 14, 2010

The Hairston Motorsports and Racing Jerry Bickel Race Cars built 2007 Pro Street GTO with a 377 CID twin turbo Duttweiler GM small block had their best outing of the year qualifying 8th in the 32 car Pro Street field at the recently contested Street Car Super Nationals at The Strip in Las Vegas going all the way to the finals.

With over 50 of the fastest Pro Street cars in country entered, it was predictable that the “bump” would be quick but nobody imagined that it would take a 6.533 to make the field. First round action produced the team’s quickest and fastest run ever 6.16 @ 236.51 MPH and a win over Garrett Richards. Round wins over Bret Williamson, Troy Coughlin and Randy Kay put the team into the final against Canadian Dan Vogt. Unfortunately, the semi-final win produced engine damage that couldn’t be fixed for the final. “A big disappointment for the team but overall I was very proud of my sons and team members Doug Stewart, Tom Esbri and Bill Hickok for the tremendous effort,” commented Jim Hairston, team owner.

Clint “The Milkman” Hairston, the team driver, commented that “the car performed beautifully the entire weekend up until we experienced a fuel injector malfunction leaning the engine at the 1000’ mark damaging the block and head. My brother Jake and Ken Duttweiler will figure it out so it doesn’t happen again,” he added.

The Hairston Team’s season opener will be the PSCA race at The Strip in Vegas, January 29-31.
